This week I finished the texture of the branches and added the second value for the greenery. I still do not know what I am going to do about the moss, you can see my experimentation on the bottom right. Hopefully I will add another value of greenery and then moss next week and that will finish up my project.

This week I realized that I needed to paint the background before moving on to paint the moss. So I painted the white spaces of the canvas with the color of the sky and then started layering my first, and darkest, color of the trees in the background. Additionally, I worked more on creating the texture of the bark in the tree branched. I need to fix the values on the center branch and complete the texture on some of the smaller branches next week. Additionally, next week my goal is to add the next lightest layer to the background trees and start working on the patterned moss that hangs from the main tree.
This week I added more dimension to the tree as well as texture by painting in a lighter color the bark that sticks out from the oak tree. I also added the base colors to the branches I was not able to get to last week and experimented more with texture on the Spanish moss. I cannot decide if I want the moss to consume the entire canvas except for the tree or to do something else with part of the background. I hope by the end of next week to finish with the branches and start really working with the Spanish moss.
I am a little late on this process post, this should have been posted last week. Last week I worked on outlining the shape of the giant oak tree's branches in pencil and painting in some of the base colors on the branches and trunk. I attempted to paint the moss, but I don't like the way it is now. I want to add more texture and quantity of little dollops of paint. I think the composition is strong as it follows the rule of thirds. I am exciting to keep working on this project!
