This week I finished my painting by adding the Spanish moss and last shade of light green leaves, by increasing the detail on the tree, and by adding touches of gold where the sun is the brightest. I am proud of this painting, however I noticed as I kept painting that I made it more realistic than I thought I would when I first set out. I really love how it captures the hard and soft textures of nature and how bright the painting is.

This post is for last week. Last week I added another layer to the trees in the background, started experimenting more with the moss, and used a glaze to cast a shadow on the right side of the tree. I still needed to add more details to the the far right and far left branches, add all the moss, add another highlight for the trees in the back, and add hints of gold in especially sunlit places. I was a little worried, at this point, that the painting would not come together, but I kept adding details and trying to refine the painting.
